Do you design homes?
Absolutely. Homes are a big part of what we do, whatever the age or size of the home. We plan how the space works, then design the interior and the bespoke joinery together, so everything fits the way you live. We guide you through every step of the journey, right up to the day it's installed.
Can you take on a single room, or just one piece of joinery?
Absolutely. Not every project is a whole house. We're happy to design a single room, a kitchen or one piece of joinery, like a wardrobe or a media wall, with the same care as a full scheme.
Do you design cafés, restaurants and bars?
Yes, and it's the work we're most excited about. We design the whole interior: the layout, joinery, lighting, finishes and the small details people remember. We can see it through to opening day, or hand over a full set of technical drawings for your own contractor. The Massarella name has been bringing people together over ice cream for generations, so hospitality is a bit in our blood.
Can you work with a small or awkward space?
Yes. Awkward spaces are where bespoke joinery earns its keep. Seating, counters and storage made to fit the space you actually have, rather than off-the-shelf pieces squeezed in, can make a small space work much harder.
How long does a fit-out take, and can you work to an opening date?
Every project is unique, so there's no single answer. How long it takes comes down to the scope, the specification, and the lead times on everything that has to be made and ordered in. Once we understand what your project involves we'll give you a realistic timeline, and keep you updated at every stage. If you have an opening date, tell us at the start and we'll plan backwards from it.
Can you do the branding and the interior together?
Yes. We work together with the middle club, a branding and marketing studio, so your brand and your interior are developed side by side as one cohesive identity, from day one.
Can you design the interior without changing our brand?
Absolutely. Your brand stays yours. Our job is to translate it into a space, with materials, colours and details that feel like you, so the interior and the brand tell the same story.
Can you work with our architect, contractor or landlord?
Yes, happily. We produce detailed technical drawings and specifications that contractors can price and build from, and we're used to working alongside architects and within landlord requirements.
Do you build it, or just design it?
Both, depending on what you need. End to end, we design everything and see it through: the joinery and furniture are made by trusted specialist makers, and we coordinate the making and delivery, so you have one point of contact from first sketch to installation. Or, if you already have a builder or contractor, we can work as a design consultancy, taking the project through to a full set of technical drawings for them to price and build from.
Do you make the joinery yourselves?
We design it and draw every detail, then it's made by trusted specialist makers we've worked with for years. That way you get joinery designed as part of the whole interior, made by people who do nothing else, with one point of contact throughout.
Do you work outside London?
Yes, though how we work depends on where the project is. In and around London, the Cotswolds and Yorkshire, we can take on the whole job, end to end. Further afield, we work as a design consultancy, taking the project through to a full set of technical drawings for your own builder or maker. Either way, get in touch and we'll talk through what makes sense.
How do your fees work?
It depends on the project. Every quote is tailored to the scope of work, with design and joinery priced clearly up front, so you'll know the cost before anything starts.
What happens on the discovery call?
It's a free 30-minute chat about your space and what you'd like from it. We'll talk through your ideas, budget and timings, and how we could help. There's no obligation, and you'll come away knowing what the next steps would be.
What do you need from us to get started?
Just the basics: what and where the space is, some photos or any drawings you have, a rough budget and when you'd like it done. Send us what you've got and we'll set up a first conversation, on site or over a call.
